Braata, Tragic Culture triumph

The show that Stockton’s Middagh Goodwin had planned for Friday night would have become a victory party.
Goodwin and the bands he’d booked - Stockton-based Braata and Tragic Culture - won Modesto Area Music Awards on Thursday night. So did Hari Kari, a Stockton group dating back to the 1970s.
That’s four awards from 10 nominations for Stockton’s music scene, the most in the 11-year history of the awards, which are voted on via the Internet.
Goodwin, 44, was named best rock promoter, Braata was chosen as best pop-rock band and Tragic Culture was voted best rock band during an awards show at the DoubleTree Modesto. Hari Kari won in the “best blue-collar” rock category.
